Madison Area Sports Commission Helps Youth Learn to Ski

Madison Area Sports Commission Awards Grants to Area Youth
Central Cross Country Skiing Inc. receives $2800

Screen shot 2013-09-30 at 12.02.01 PM(Madison, WI) The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) is pleased to announce that it has awarded nearly $15,000 in its’ bi-annual disbursement of youth grant funds. Central Cross Country Skiing Inc. has been awarded $2,800 to introduce, conduct and establish the Nordic Rocks program in two disadvantaged area elementary schools this upcoming winter.  Funded in part by the Ironman Community Foundation, youth grant funds are earmarked to introduce Dane County children 17 years old and younger to the lifelong enjoyment and health benefits of sports.

The other winning grant recipients are:

– Capital Off Road Pathfinders (CORP)

– Goodman Community Center

– Madison Ice Inc.

– Salvation Army of Dane County

– Tri 4 Schools

Screen shot 2013-09-30 at 12.02.34 PMThe mission of the MASC Youth Grant Program is to provide opportunities for area youth, who may have financial limitations, to experience the benefits of sports. The MASC Youth Grant Program is funded by contributions from the Ironman Community Foundation, private donors and corporations.

“We are honored to be able to give back to the local community,” said Vince Sweeney, chair of the Madison Area Sports Commission board. “The Sports Commission is privileged to serve the youth of Dane County, and we are incredibly pleased at the number of youth we have been able to help thus far,” said Sweeney.

“The youth sports grants have such a positive impact on the health and wellness of our local youth,” said Jamie Patrick, MASC Director of Sports. “We are thrilled to once again be able to provide funds for these incredibly deserving organizations,” added Patrick.

The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) is the greater Madison area’s official sports marketing organization. Launched by the Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau, MASC is charged with elevating the recognition and awareness of the impact of sports tourism on the regional economy while serving the unique needs of the sports tourism business.
