CXC Junior Program Athletes Compete at End of Season Championship Races

Six athletes from the CXC Junior Program Qualified for the end of the season championship races held last month. Scott Harrison, Sam Boardman, Mack Fitzpatrick, Dan Delestry, and Sam Williams all earned spots on the Midwest Junior National Team which competed in Truckee, California. While Victoria Trantow represented the program at the U16 NENSA Championships in Fort Kent, Maine.

U18 Skier Mack Fitzpatrick capped off a great season and led the group with an two All-American finishes in the 10k Skate, finishing in 5th place as well as being a part of the National Champion U18 Classic Relay.

Post Graduate skier Scott Harrison, a U20, had a top result of 14th place in the Mass Start Classic 15k. Another Post Graduate skier Sam Boardman, U20, had a great qualifier in the Classic Sprint qualifying 6th overall but was taken out in the heats to end his day sooner than expected. Dan Delestry, who qualified for his 3rd straight Junior Nationals team, raced tough in the high altitude to a top result of 33rd in the skate sprint. Sam Williams, making his first Junior Nationals team, gained a lot of great experience competing at the top level during the week and had a top placing of 39th in the U16 Classic Mass Start 5k.

The CXC representative at the U16 NENSA trip, Victoria Trantow, showed everyone how it’s done with a great week of racing in Fort Kent, Maine. Getting stronger through the week, she accumulated results of; 11th in the Skate 5k, 6th in the Classic 5k and 2nd in the Skate Sprint. This led her to achieve one of the best overall results we’ve ever had for Midwest individual at these races, finishing 3rd overall in the point’s standings.

With the season coming to a close, it is time to start preparing for the next year.
