The CXC Junior Summer Camps Conclude with nearly 60 participants at Wolverine Nordic Village

Ironwood, MI (August 18, 2015) – 59 junior skiers from around the Central Region joined together at the Wolverine Nordic Village (Ironwood, MI) from August 9-15, for one week of tough training as part of the Central Cross Country Ski Association (CXC) August Junior Camp.

“CXC has hosted the junior camp in Ironwood area for several years. It has always been a great opportunity to take advantage of the terrain in the Porcupine Mountains, both on the hiking trails and roads.” Said Andy Keller, CXC Team Coach.

Over 145 athletes total participated in the CXC Junior Camps, which occurred three times throughout the summer at two different locations in the Midwest. The first two camps were held in Cable, WI at Lakewoods Resort and Telemark Condos, and the third and final camp was this past weekend August 9-15 at the Wolverine Nordic Village in Ironwood, MI. All of the athletes look forward to competing this winter, culminating with the 2016 Junior Nationals Race week held in Cable, WI from March 7-12.

About CXC Junior Camps:

The goal of the CXC Junior Camp is to bring young talented athletes from collaborating clubs together, to train and live for an extended period during the summer. The camp focused on how to train hard, recover and balance life in a healthy way. Resulting in learning how to perform to the top of their potential. The athletes received feedback and educational materials, while catching a glimpse of the bigger picture as a Nordic ski racer. These collaborative camps provided a motivating environment for the athletes to positively push and improve together.
