Seeding in CXC Cup

Here are the seeding rules for CXC Cup that have been given to the race organizers.

In Junior National Qualifiers, racers will be seeded by the following (in priority order):

  1. The lowest of applicable US Ski & Snowboard NRL Points, FIS points, or CFIS Points (from the CCSA NCAA Qualifying List).
  1. In GLD only JNQs, at the race jury’s discretion, GLD JNQ Points using the US Ski & Snowboard points calculation formula may be mixed with NRL points.
  1. US Ski & Snowboard General license holders without NRL/FIS points will be assigned 990 points and be randomly drawn. (This includes the group of CXC Members with the $40 Cross Country General Membership for Juniors)

If a CXC Cup Race is a Super JNQ (combined Midwest/Great Lakes Qualifier or CCSA) the races will be seeded by the following (in priority order):

1. The lowest of applicable US Ski & Snowboard NRL Points, FIS points, or CFIS Points (from the CCSA NCAA Qualifying List).

2. US Ski & Snowboard General license holders without NRL/FIS points will be assigned 990 points and be randomly drawn. (This includes the group of CXC Members with the $40 Cross Country General Membership for Juniors)

Athletes concerned about seeding, i.e. anybody who is going to want to be seeded non-randomly, needs to purchase a competitor license.  Taking the route of not purchasing a  U.S. Ski & Snowboard  license has the consequence of not being seeded with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard licensed skiers.

RUNNING/SEEDING OF SPRINT QUALIFYING AND INDIVIDUAL START RACES

1. U.S. Ski & Snowboard NRL pointed skiers/FIS/CFIS pointed skiers: seed groups TBD based upon number of registrants;

2. U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitor licensed and no NRL/FIS/CFIS points, USBA licensed skiers and no U.S. Ski & Snowboard NRL points will be assigned 990 points and be randomly drawn to determine start position;

3. US Ski & Snowboard General license holders without NRL/FIS/CFIS points will be assigned 991 points and be randomly drawn to determine start position. (This includes the group of CXC Members with the $40 Cross Country General Membership for Juniors)

4. Anybody else participating in an “open” class not officially part of the CXC Cup will be assigned 992 points and be randomly drawn with this group.
