Masters Clinic | Rice Lake (WI) Chapter

The Rice Lake (WI) Chapter is having an Open Masters/Citizen Technique Clinic on Monday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. at Eagle Ridge in Rice Lake.


The focus of this technique clinic will be, movements of classic striding and progression.


Following the workout will be a pot-luck meal. Out There Nordic Sports will be providing the main course, but other dishes can be brought to pass.

Happening Monday, July 11: CXC Masters Technique Clinic in Rice Lake (WI)

The Rice Lake (WI) Chapter is having an Open Masters/Citizen Technique ClinicMonday, July 11th at 6:00 p.m. at Eagle Ridge in Rice Lake.

The Rice Lake Chapter is led by the owners of Out There Nordic Sports, Bjorn and Kris Hanson, who are also USSA Level 100 and 200 certified coaches.


The Rice Lake Chapter meets year round to work on agility, balance, dry-land training, ski imitation, and/or rollerskiing. These sessions present a great opportunity to learn about training, technique, racing, recovery and more.


CXC Masters Team – New Season Is Here


With Members as far as New England, Washington DC, Park City, UT, and nearby in the Midwest, we are growing a support network of great people.

We are excited to share that there will be many NEW! enhancements to the CXC Masters Team program next season.

Also new this season is the enhanced Masters Team race support service.

The service features a new Team Service Truck containing a lounge area, storage for warm-up clothes and a pre-race hydration and fuel station. Collection of warm-up clothes at the start line will also be available at select events.

CXC Masters Program Adds a New Chapter!

CXC is excited to announce Winona, Minnesota as the newest chapter added to the CXC Masters Team program.

CXC Masters Team is a group of master/citizen skiers of all ages and ability levels who love the sport of cross country skiing, want to give back to the sport and see it grow. Currently CXC Masters Team consists of 52 members mostly from the Midwest.

Clinics are led by Level 200 certified coaches and typically run from 9am to 3pm with a lunch break.

About the camps:
The camps focus on drills and workouts that tend to be unique and different from most skiers’ normal routines. A fair amount of the work is drills and skills that break down technique to individual movements and that progression helps skiers understand what they must work on the most to improve.

About the clinics:
These clinics are open to master/citizen skiers of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Skiers are divided in small groups based on their level to provide adequate personal attention. Rollerski equipment is available to borrow if requested. Every clinic is presented by two CXC Level 200 coaches.

Join the TEAM behind the TEAM

Central Cross Country Skiing (CXC) invites skiers from across the United States to join the CXC Masters Team, a group of master and citizen skiers of all ages and ability levels who love the sport of cross country skiing and want to see the sport grow.


Currently, the program has five CXC Masters Team Chapters that host training sessions regularly throughout the Midwest: four locations in Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Madison, Rice Lake, and Wausau, and one in Chicago, Illinois.

Each Chapter meets with a CXC coach several times a year to work on technique, agility, strength, and individual training plans. Chapters create an opportunity to bond and train as a group with other master skiers that extends beyond each session.


Other opportunities built into the CXC Masters Team program include visiting the CXC Training Center in Madison for technique analyses on the rollerski treadmill, VO2 testing with  training zones evaluation, and balance and strength evaluation. Each CXC Masters Team member receives full access to the CXC Online Academy, which includes training plans and a video library.


After a summer and fall of training, CXC coaches will provide race support services for CXC Masters Team member at six Midwest races:

Seeley Hills Classic, Noquemanon, City of Lakes Loppet, Mora Vasaloppet, American Birkebeiner, and Great Bear Chase.

To end the season on a festive note and to celebrate a season of Nordic fun and excitement, CXC Masters Team member are the special guests with complimentary tickets to the CXC VIP Birkie Dinner.


The CXC Masters Team program has three levels of membership: Bronze, Silver, and Gold; the membership opportunities, benefits, and specialty features increase with each level of support.

Skiers from the across the United States annually become members of the CXC Masters Team, as individuals, clubs and business, joining  a network of great people who support, promote, and grow the sport of cross country skiing.

In return for this generous support, in the form of a TEAM membership, CXC provides many unique and exciting Nordic opportunities, highlighted by professional instruction from CXC Team coaches, top-level race support services, and social/training experience with other CXC Team athletes and supporters.

April 20th Highlights the Beginning of a New Training Season

The standard CXC Academy Subscription remains the same as seen in previous years, with the addition of new workouts, training tips and videos.

With the latest in sport science testing equipment, we are able to bring training plan personalization to a whole new level. With a rollerski treadmill, stationary bikes, and traditional treadmills, we are able to conduct VO2 Max tests, Blood Lactate Analysis, fine tune technique and much more. Start off the season right with a physiological assessment at the CXC Endurance Center.
