First Masters Ski Camp of the Season

CXC’s first Open Masters/Citizen Technique Camp of the season is coming up in less than two weeks!Join CXC Team head coach, Andy Keller and Joe Haggenmiler, CXC Director of Athletics, along with fellow Masters skiers, August 18-20 in Cable, (WI).

During the days at the camp participants work on agility, balance, dry-land training, ski imitation, roller skiing and then receive video analysis.

This is also a great opportunity to learn about training, technique, racing, recovery and more.

A fair amount of the work is drills and skills that break down technique to individual movements, to help skiers understand what they must work on to improve.

Get Training for Masters World Cup

Although another CXC Marathon Cup season has come to a close, there is plenty to get ready for with the 2018 Masters World Cup coming to our backyard on January 19-26 at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The event will be the culmination of five years of planning by local organizers, The Loppet Foundation, and the American XC Skiers non-profit masters association.

The Masters World Cup is an annual event hosted at different ski venues around the world. The last time the series was in the United States was at the 2008 Masters World Cup in McCall, ID.

Minneapolis is expecting to bring over one-thousand competitors (over 30 years old) from all around the world to the eight-day competition series.

Skiers ranging from 30 to 90+ years require no qualification process, and the series welcomes all abilities. Racers can expect three individual races and a national team relay for all age/gender categories.

With less than a year until the races commence many masters skiers have begun dry-land training for this prestigious event.

New Year’s Technique Camp for Citizen Skiers

Join CXC coaches and fellow Master skiers in the Northwoods of Wisconsin for our focused technique training camp. All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced.

*Note: The ‘CXC Experience’ truck will be present all of the Cable, (WI) camps. Interested participants will be able to preform ski walking MaxVO2 test to determine training intensity levels and efficiency. Also, interested participants can perform a time trial (classic or skate) on Sunday morning instead of a technique workout. Video will be taken during the time trial for technique analysis.

May 16: CXC Masters Intro Night and Potluck in Rice Lake (WI)

The Rice Lake (WI) Chapter is having their annual CXC Master Intro Night and Potluck, Monday, May 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Out There Nordic Sports.

There will be a small workout, the potluck and then a chance to discuss the program for the 2016-17 season.

The Rice Lake Chapter is led by the owners of Out There Nordic Sports, Bjorn and Kris Hanson, who are also USSA Level 100 and 200 certified coaches.

The Rice Lake Chapter meets year round to work on agility, balance, dry-land training, ski imitation, and/or rollerskiing. These sessions present a great opportunity to learn about training, technique, racing, recovery and more.

We hope this chapter serves as an opportunity to bond with other skiers in the area and that the benefits of group training will extend beyond our clinics.
